Happy Blog-iversary!
.
It was one year ago today...my very first food blogging post.
I've maintained an 'everyday' blog for just over three years now. But this food blogging thing...this was new, different.
I was turned on to this talking, photographing, living food phenomenon by Dexygus, via her original food blog.
I would visit her blog every day...she talked about the things I cared about, plus dishes, cuisines, and recipes I'd not yet heard of.
There was someone else out there who was as nuts about cooking and baking as I was.
Through Dexygus, I found other food bloggers. And more, and more...
I kept telling Matt "I need to do that...I should do this, shouldn't I?" Finally, on 18 August, 2004; Dispensing Happiness was born.
It's been a good year. Good food, good people. I've enjoyed all of it. Thanks for stopping by...and help yourself to a slice of Chocolate Fudge Truffle Cake!
It's the final day to submit Blog Party entries...I'll be watching for your links!
35 Thoughts for food:
Happy Anniversary!!
Thank you!...now, how 'bout some cake?
Happy Anniversary! Any cake left? It looks fantastic :-)
Thank you, Joey!
There's plenty of cake left, come on over!
Happy Blog-iversary! What a great cake to go with it!
Thank you, Joe!
Matt tells me it's very dense and very rich...and boy; does it smell chocolate-y!
Wow, that's super, Stephanie! Happy Blog-iversary!! *swipes an extra piece of cake when noone is looking* :)
Thank you so much, Jeff!
('tis ok...you're welcome to it!)
Hey Stephanie,
Happy Anniversary. I came over to wish you good luck on your Blog Party, and saw this post. It's so sweet of you to mention me.
Anyway, it always amazes me how prolific you are. Keep up the great work.
oh, i forgot to mention that the chocolate cake looks so damn sinful. i want some!
Dexygus...awww; thanks!
Well, you really are the reason I started doing all this. I didn't even know what food blogging was before I came across your blog. It's a good thing Matt supports this, or he could blame you!
And thank you...the recipe is yours if you want it.
I do believe I will... thanks! Happy birthday to you and Dispensing Happiness - may you have many more! Sounds like a good excuse for a Blog Party!
Spectacular looking cake! Did you make especially for this birthday?
And what's this about "Mat tells me it's very dense" etc?? Get yourself a celebratory piece, girl!
CONGRATS!
That is soooooo coool stephanie :) Cake looks awesome and I would love a taste ;) (if there is some left)
BUT!
ACK I HAVE BEEN RELATIVED OUT! nooooo
so my intended blog party recipe has been overturned and I came home to find casey dishing the star ingrediant out on crackers when I had it all planned out!...nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnoooooooooooooooooooo
I am so sorry :(
Yay! Congrats, Stephanie, on a wonderful first year of food blogging! As everyone else has said...that cake looks absolutely, delightfully sinful. Keep up the good work!
Thank you, Cathy!
If I'm not careful, I can come up with almost any excuse for a party...for example; did you know that when both the day and the month share a number (5 May, 11 November), it's known as Bonzai Bottler Day? I do!
Useless trivia left over from 'radio personality' days...but almost any day is a good day to celebrate!
Niki...thank you!
And yes; I made the cake Wednesday night, just to mark the occasion.
Ack; no...I can't eat it! I could tell right away it was going to be really rich...and I seem to have lost my tolerance for decadently-sweet confections. Smells divine, though.
Clare...thank you, and yes; surprisingly there is some left. Come on over!
I'm so sorry to hear about your ingredient displacement (bad Casey!); I guess we'll just have to plan ahead to next month!
Thank you so much, Alice!
I see we've been at this about the same length of time...must have been something in the air!
Thank you, Jennifer!
And I have no plans to stop...
Hi Stephanie,
Happy blog birthday! Wonder if there's still any of that fantabulous chocolate cake left for me? :) Please don't stop doing what you're doing. Checking out your blog has become an almost daily affair for me. :)
Thank you, Julia!
Awww...I'm blushing.
And I visit your blog at least once a day; for me, it's absolute food photo porn!
Have you made any of the Mexican recipes yet?
And yes, there's cake left for you, Julia...it made a lot!
Happy Anniversary, that cake is so lucious. *Licking her lips, drooling away*
Congratulations on a tremendous milestone! Best wishes for many more delicious years of happiness...
Boo...thank you! If you'd like the recipe, just ask...
Thank you, Stephen!
I'll be a heck of a lot happier if I get that new camera...
hey stephanie! happy blog birthday!
a toast to you with a vanilla ginger caketail!
that's for your blog party, too ;) thanks for letting me participate, and late, too!
I completely understand about losing your tolerance for super-sweet foods. It seems to have happened to me too- the sweet cakes and lollies (candies :-) ) I used to love are just too much for me now, and I've started appreciating that dark, dark bitter chocolate I used to hate. I also seem to have developed a real salt tooth, and my cravings nowdays, when I haven't eaten for a few hours, are for salty foods rather than sugary ones!
Thank you, Sarah!
I've just squeezed you in...the round up will be up very soon!
Happy, Happy Blog-iversary! How exciting!
Now I'm sure there is no more of that amazing looking cake left, so I am here to beg for the recipe. *beg* *beg* *winning begging smile*
Niki; that's me, exactly. I'd rather eat salty, for sure.
It's not that I don't appreciate milk chocolate, I simply prefer the dark!
Farmgirl...you most certainly can have the recipe! Send me your email address (thehappysorceress at gmail dot com), and I'll get it to you.
Wow...I'm in awe; organic farmer and artisinal baker? I'm impressed with myself when I get a good-looking focaccia! Love your blog!
Hi Stephanie,
Thanks so much for your kind words and (especially) for the cake recipe. Am going to email you right now! *BIG smile*
Oh, you're welcome!
I'll get the recipe to you right away...
